Do you trim the coat?
A trimmed coat is fine and certainly makes life easier for a pet.  A "Show dog" should never be trimmed.
Trimming the coat into a 'Puppy cut' on a pet coton is perfectly acceptable and much easier for owners with the daily coat maintenance.
