Welcome to Cotonborne Cotons!

The Coton De Tulear is a small long haired companion dog originating from Madagascar with a white coat, round dark eyes and a lively, intelligent expression. Cotons are a young healthy breed and have been in the UK since the seventies.

They have a coat that is soft and cotton like in texture/volume and because there is no doggy odour they are very good for people who suffer from allergies or asthma. (Although they do not caste like other dogs be prepared for lots of grooming on a daily basis)

They are playful, cheeky, vivacious, affectionate, lively, boisterous, curious, and easily trained because they are very intelligent. (ours like to play with toys in their paws on their backs like a cat)

They know how to get your attention with their strange little noises and are always attentive to their surroundings, which is why they are also known as an 'Alarm Dog' ( we often have very in depth conversations and the postman thinks we have a much bigger dog)

So long as they get plenty of exercise they are adaptable to different living accomodations. Just as at home in an apartment as they would be in a house with a garden. ( When we first got JD we lived in a flat, we trained JD to go to the toilet in a cat litter tray no problem)

They do not like isolation or to stay alone for long periods of time, this can cause them real distress, and separation anxiety. ( we will not consider any future owner who does not have someone at home all day)

All our dogs are regularly health checked and have annual certificated eye examinations, results of which are available on request.

We hope you enjoy your visit and if you have any further questions that are not covered elswhere on this site, please do not hesitate to contact us.
